Meet Cat, TEDx speaker, an imperfect vegan, and a passionate advocate for our planet
Can we build a planet that’s plant-based by default?
When I first learnt about the global impact of our individual food choices – not the mention the truth about what really happens to animals – I wanted to be a PERFECT vegan. But I quickly realised two things:
↓
One: A ‘perfect vegan’ doesn’t exist – and you can learn more about this in my first book The Imperfect Vegan.
And,
Two: Vegans – on their own – aren’t going to save the world.
We all need to come together to solve this massive planetary crisis, which may well be the defining crisis of humanity.
I strongly believe that we have the power to shape our own destiny, and we can change the world if we try. But we all need to come together and SUPPORT EACH OTHER along this journey. Psychology 101: you get more of what you reward. So rather than holding myself and everyone around me to high, unachievable standards, I prefer to celebrate and appreciate the good that we do, even the smallest steps.
So I applaud you for being here. Wherever you are in your plant-based journey, you’re doing something to help the planet. Thank you. The more you enjoy it, the more you’ll keep doing it, and the easier it will be to inspire those around you. My mission is to help you have fun and stick with it!
Of course, there’s a lot of things that need to happen as well – like government regulations, better dietary guidelines, access to healthy foods, good tasting vegan alternatives… but it all starts with consumer demand. When we demand it, they’ll make it.
And that’s how we create a world that’s plant-based by default.
